Dubai Economic Development (DED) licenses falls under two classifications.
Professional: A Professional License is available to companies that are carrying out a service rather than trading a tangible product, for example: Consulting companies and counselling etc. will fall under this license.
Commercial: A Commercial license is provided to any company that trades with physical/tangible products. For example: Any General Trading company will fall under this license category.
A free zone company can be owned 100% by expatriates, but must do the trading outside the local area i.e. internationally or within the Free zone. The offices can be located only inside the free zone otherwise all other facilities – such as trade license, office, tax residency status, residence visa in UAE are available to a Free Zone company.
